In 2007, I changed careers from being a teacher to a web developer.I started reading books on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and taking web design and development courses. I was fascinated then, and still am today, by how code could create a digital masterpiece.During my 16+ year career in software engineering, I’ve worked with multiple startups, been a member of numerous distributed teams, launched countless web apps, and held individual contributor and manager roles. There are two things I’m most proud of: teamwork and people. As a software engineer, I know that I alone can only do so much. However, with a team, I can do even more. My greatest achievements have come working alongside others to release customer-focused features and performance-driven improvements. When you have a group of talented people with common pursuits, you can overcome any obstacle and accomplish any goal. That’s why I love working with a team.I’ve always been more of a leader than a follower. When I believe in something, I’m not afraid to stand up for it. And I lead by example, supporting those around me and motivating them to do great work. This is why being an engineering leader has been so rewarding for me. I get to use my experience and knowledge to help others grow and become even better software engineers and humans. In 2023, I began focusing on entrepreneurship during my free time. I did freelance work in the past and built web apps before, but this time it was different. I was drawn to being a founder and the idea of running a SaaS business. I started working on several side projects that have been teaching me invaluable lessons about building and marketing your own business and SaaS products.Today, I continue to grow as an engineering leader and entrepreneur. My weekly newsletter, DW News, includes updates on my side projects and lessons I’m learning in leadership and entrepreneurship. I’m also building Agendaful, a Slack app for creating collaborative 1:1 agendas. Join me on my journey to become a better leader and entrepreneur.Subscribe to my newsletter ➡️ https://join.madebydw.comLearn more about Agendaful ➡️ https://www.agendaful.io
