I actually began my career in recruitment in 2001 but in 2003 decided to change direction, moving into IT. For the following ten years I worked within the systems integrator space, selling a broad range of solutions from Unix infrastructure to storage and virtualisation infrastructure, then cloud and managed services solutions in the back half of my career. In 2012, I decided to take a year off from the IT industry and put all my energy into writing a novel, an idea that had been rolling around in my head for the previous four years. It would take me another three years to finally get it onto paper, a feeling that is a little hard to describe, actually seeing a manuscript I had written bound and sitting on the table in front of me. I returned to IT in 2013, but found that there was something missing in the day to day tussle of my career. After much thought and a chance meeting with an old colleague, I was presented with an opportunity to step back into recruitment, this time specialising in IT, which I considered seriously and later accepted. The idea of helping people in their careers was something that really appealed to me, as well, working with my customers to help build their brand and in turn attract the best talent to join in their journey. Coming from an IT background has certainly helped in this pursuit but in all honesty my success ultimately comes back to my genuine want to help people.
