My work is focused on building FEA models, post-processing computational data and conducting parametric studies within the Non-Propulsion Hydroacoustics and Target Strength group. I develop high fidelity models of flow-exposed structures via Hypermesh and use a host of analytical methods to characterize both the vibration response of excited structures and their contributions to radiated noise. Using modeling results coupled with trials data, I help identify potential modifications or features which can meaningfully reduce the ship’s total acoustic signature. Additionally, I review design disclosures to verify that hydroacoustic requirements for arrangements are satisfied. I am involved with various programs including VIRGINIA, SSN(X) and COLUMBIA.

I was involved in the design of auxiliary and freshwater fluid systems for Block V VIRGINIA class submarines with VIRGINIA Payload Module and a future VIRGINIA platform. My technical deliverables and responsibilities included engineering calculations & analyses, configuration change dispositions, spatial arrangement reviews, system-level change recommendations and Navy written correspondence. Additionally, I managed system interfaces and regularly engaged with multidisciplinary design & engineering groups to identify system requirements.

I conducted a wide range of administrative work in support of the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. Some typical duties included answering departmental phone inquiries, facilities scheduling, supervising facility work orders, supporting faculty hiring & recording lab inventory. I regularly coordinated closely with faculty & staff to address departmental needs and optimize departmental processes.

I graded homework assignments and exams for MAE 278: Introduction to Aerospace Engineering. Additionally, I uploaded students' grades and managed the class gradebook. This was a 129-person sophomore-level course that provided an introduction to aircraft anatomy, atmospheric & fluid flow properties, aerodynamics and aircraft performance.

In the HVAC Pre-Development R&D team, I participated in advanced thermal-automotive engineering projects concerned with energy harvesting & climate control systems. My overall responsibilities included performance data analytics, MATLAB thermal simulations and visualization-based material analysis. Primarily, I focused on the UTEMPRA program, funded by the US Department of Energy (DOE).

My primary contribution involved handling test equipment & optical devices to help prepare the experimental environment. Additionally, I was tasked with the design & implementation of high pressure and high temperature gas cells.
