Byron S. Farquer, DVM, CVA is a Boettcher Scholar and graduated from Colorado State University with honors in 1991 with both a BS and Doctorate Degree. He completed an advanced research project in equine orthopedics and assisted in the development of academic programs for use in the veterinary graduate training program at CSU while receiving additional education in enterprise budgeting and analysis prior to entering private practice. His portfolio of experience includes veterinary hospital ownership, advanced business and real-estate education, certification in business valuation and brand marketing. Dr. Farquer is now a recognized expert in ownership transition planning and valuation. He is a frequent international, US and industry lecturer and published author on business development and structuring, practice financial analysis and profitability, professional image, and strategic business planning including alternative exit strategies for business owners. He's a contributing author and executive editor of the veterinary industry best selling book "Your Veterinary Practice: Buying, Selling and Merging". Currently, Dr. Farquer owns two practice appraisal and brokerage firms (Simmons & Associates) and serves on a number of industry advisory boards. He was the founder of a business management educational company in Portland, Or (SmartStart Practice) that improves profit performance for small business owners, a principal and content advisor for a national multi-media medical education network (emebaVet), COO of a national small business lenders resource website (Veterinaryloans.com), and an original Charter Member of the Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants and Advisors now known as VetPartners. He is an accredited member of the national Veterinary Valuation Council.
