CIS 2004: Sci+Tech ScholarsThis seminar course provides students participating in the Sci+Tech Scholars program with advanced preparation for success in exploring tech-focused science education and career opportunities. The goals of the course are to: 1) foster a cohort experience and build community among Sci+Tech Scholars2) enhance students' understanding of the social relevance and interdisciplinary applications of computing concepts within scientific industries3) explore professional development topics that enhance students' understanding of research, graduate school, and careers related to their sci+tech studies4) support students' engagement in experiential service-learning projects that apply and enhance their technical skills

• Driving development of Capital One's first in-house financial card instrument logic utilizing Scala to implement intricate financial rules governing account provision, transactions, interest accrual, account cycling, fees structure, and more• Collaborated cross-functionally to design and implement solutions for mapping Kafka ingress events and emitting egress events to designated Kafka topics, optimizing event processing and routing within Capital One's financial systems architecture• Engaged with product and engineering managers, key stakeholders, to refine epics, define non-functional requirements for financial event processing, and establish PI (Program Increment) goals to ensure alignment with business objectives• Implemented end-to-end integration tests using Behavior Driven Development (BDD) methodology to validate accurate translation, processing, and routing of account provisioning and transactional events• Developed Proof of Concept historical transaction loader, utilizing Python to create an ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process utilizing AWS Glue• Spearheaded development of account storage and query microservices in Golang and Java, leveraging Docker, Cassandra, and CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Segregation) pattern to support Capital One's buy-now, pay-later product• Implemented multi-region resilience for Capital One's services through the use of AWS Route 53, Lambda, SNS, and Cloudwatch Alarms• Minimized production downtime and deployment risk by implementing blue/green deployment pipelines utilizing Jenkins and AWS ECS

• Developed Golang microservices for Capital One's abstraction layer from financial cores, ensuring high scalability and resilience in a distributed system• Created release plans and led production releases • Worked with engineering team and product to groom stories for future sprints• Enhanced developer experiences by documenting timely taxing processes

• Maintained, reviewed and tested TD US Card Java APIs• Implemented NodeJS reusable modules for TD's US Card Framework• Developed user interfaces, wireframes and prototypes for TD card products
