• Advising the executive director and other key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters• Serving as the management liaison to the board; effectively communicating and presenting critical financial matters at select board of directors and committee meetings• Contributing to the development of the strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization• Maintaining continuous lines of communication between senior management and operational team, while keeping the president abreast of critical issues• Representing the organization externally, particularly in banking and lease negotiations• Overseeing, directing, and organizing the work of the finance and operations teams• Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality• Ensuring staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development• Evaluating staff performance and development goals, setting objectives, establishing priorities, conducting annual performance appraisals, and administering salary adjustments• Recruiting, mentoring and developing staff using a supportive and collaborative approach• Upgrading and implementing an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures• Planning, coordinating, and executing the annual budget process• Ensure the organization is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the board• Providing analytic support to the internal management team including development of internal management reporting capabilities• Improving administrative and operational accounting services such as payroll, accounts payable, purchasing and grants payment processing
