Kordia is a SOE operating in the telecommunications and broadcast sectors in NZ and Australia, Kordia owns and operates New Zealand’s third largest telecommunications network by geographical reach. As the Group Finance Manager my responsibilities were to manage all the external and internal reporting requirements at a group level as well as providing relevant and timely analysis to board and management to facilitate decision making. This was a contract position covering maternity leave.

As the financial controller for the Eastern Hemisphere with revenues of £120m across multiple countries including Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and the UK, I was responsible for the financial management across all divisions.

My role was based in the corporate division overseeing all group companies and reporting directly to the Group Finance Director. My role was primarily external audit, conversion to IFRS, and review of UK statutory accounts for a number of clients from manufacturing to car rental companies. I gained exposure to UK GAAP and PwC audit methodology and training.

The main clientele were publicly listed mineral exploration companies exploring for precious metals throughout the world and were raising funds through venture capitalists.I was in charge of the entire audit process from the planning stage right through to the finalisation of audit reports and meeting with audit committees.
