Now working as a full time teacher of physics and related sciences at the Vinseschool and Damstede.Before I have been working temporary for more than 25 years in the AMC (Why that made me famous is explained in some detail at http://www.andrel.nl). First at the Medical Physics Department and then at the Experimental Cardiology lab. In this period the focus of my research has been on understanding arrhythmias and how multichannel ECG's can help us understand how activations in the heart result in a particular morphology of the signals at the body surface. Obviously I was also responsible for the hardware and the software (signal processing) involved.Part of the job was to improve the papers written by others and I have developed and maintained the software package (MapLab) that is used to analyze the electrophysiological data in our lab.My research interests include cardiac arrhythmias, programming, signal processing, instrumentation, 3D modelling. This led to interests in, among other things, evolution, developmental biology, the foundations of computerscience, scientific visualization, ethical aspects, data integrity, electronic patient record, and ceramics (or the interests led to research, that is not always clear).I have been instrumental in introducing various new techniques both within my own research and elsewhere in the hospital.Nationally and internationally I was active in the professional organizations of biomedical engineers. Trying to remind policy makers and others that all that equipment in the hospitals and care facilities had to be developed at some point.
