Bärbel is the owner and managing director of Global Progressive Synergy, a company that provides training management services, leadership training, team development support and executive coaching services. Since 2010 she is also engaged as the Construction Industries Federation of Namibia’s Chief Executive Officer.Bärbel has had eight years of tertiary education. This includes a Bachelor’s degree with Psychology as a major, a Master’s degree in Marketing Management, and a Master’s in Public Administration. She is trained as a personal and business coach. She is also Licensed Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), having received the training from the Richard Wayne Bandler who is the co-creator of NLP, which is a methodology to understand and change human behavior patterns.For over 10 years she worked for the Government of Dubai, being actively involved in driving tourism and commerce to the country through effective public relations and marketing initiatives. As the Director of Dubai’s overseas representative office in London between 2002 and 2007, she was heading up the office and was responsible for developing and implementing Dubai’s marketing strategy in the UK and Ireland.After having lived for 13 years in London, and having left full-time employment with the Government of Dubai in September 2007, she set up Global Progressive Synergy. Her thesis for the Master in Public Administration focused on the development policy of the EU and its relationship with ACP countries. She also studied the regional integration of the EU; its institutions and corresponding decision-making processes. Her thesis for the Master in Marketing Management focused on the disintermediation of overseas tourist offices. Bärbel also worked in the Namibian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where her focus was on multilateral affairs and where she was responsible for the desk of the European Union. She also set up the Namibian Tourist Office in London in 1995.
