A PhD graduate from IIT Madras, is currently an assistant professor (Sr.) at the SAINTGITS College of engineering, Kottayam, with prior experience at NIT Warangal and Amal Jyothi Collage of engineering. My PhD thesis was on the understanding of the structure property – relationships in hydrophilic ionic polymer membranes. The work was motivated with an intention to develop low cost membrane as opposed to Nafion which is competent in performance but very costly. Polyvinyl alcohol based membranes are low cost, biodegradable, versatile to chemical modification, and have superior mechanical properties, but the conductivity is low. The work focused on understanding the reasons for low conductivity and tune the polymer matrix to improve its conductivity. My passion always was to work in areas relating to environment and energy, especially in developing materials for renewable energy and recycling of plastics. My interest in environment arose as a consequence of me travelling from luscious green state of Kerala to Chennai which had huge mountains of plastic waste. Pained and agonized by the visuals of the city I was always concerned about my role in changing this situation. Moreover growing in an era where pollution and renewable energy was always the keyword in any discussion, a sense of responsibility to be a part of alternate energy grew in me.
