Lead DeveloperAdb Systems Jun 2007 - Dec 2022Software development lead. Specializing in several technologies including Java EE, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, AJAX, and FIX among others. We usually develop and run things on LAMP stack. I have built literally hundreds of gizmos, gadgets, widgets and counters, data driven graphs and all sorts of things for the web. I have also learned the hard way about what it takes to fix other peoples' broken code and the associated hacks that some people make and maybe more interestingly... why they make them. Refactoring is good for you !

Technology ManagerDefense Grid Inc. 2003 - 2007IT Infrastructure and software development manager.Young, ambitious, talented and under funded, we tried to make a go of things as a small software and services company. We ultimately failed despite every effort to the contrary. A great learning experience and again, working with great people and some real friends. We almost made it - we were just ahead of our time and the market was not there for us yet. + 1 for a solid lesson learned.

ContractorSarcom 2001 - 2002Lewis Center, Ohio, UsWas an in-house resource for several client accounts. Would visit client sites to assist other Sarcom employees in solving problems to assure rapid resolution. Essentially I was the go to guy for emergencies, am cool in a crisis and understand how to not only solve problems but be a great liaison to customers via clear concise communications about technology problems. I left after the travel got to be too much and they switched me to a pre-sales role. Pre-sales would have been manageable job role occasionally but as a full time role it was not very satisfying. Commuting 230 miles per day + travel to client sites was rough. Worked with some great people there and enjoyed my experiences. -
ContractorTeksystems 2000 - 2001Hanover, Md, UsDid a contract engagement for Qwest as an HP Openview IT Operations administrator to help the company implement standard based systems monitoring for their UNIX based systems while they merged data centers. Met some great people there and have a lot of good memories from that engagement. TEKsystems was great to work with as well.Worked as a contractor on several accounts for Aerotek starting in 1995-1996, eventually was hired as a staff resource at some point after I left IBM (2000) and may have done some contracts under Maxim group before the TEKsystems name change or reorganization. I endorse TEKsystems as a great firm to work with and have had nothing but great experiences with them over the years. -
Subject Matter ExpertIbm 1996 - 2000Armonk, New York, Ny, UsUNIX and Windows Systems Administrator. Team lead for several projects centered on distributed monitoring of systems using a standardized suite of tools. Capacity planning, web development, middle-ware integration, distributed systems integration architecture and design, and many other responsibilities. Used all the big name tools - Tivoli Suite of products, and many others including Platinum products, BGS Best -1 (SNMP Monitoring), customized the implementation using logfile readers, event reporting and other methods. Worked on most available platforms at the time, so examples are; Oracle back-end DB, AIX, Solaris, Windows, HPUX, and handled events from mainframe but did not implement that part myself directly on mainframe - just handled the events and associated event logic. Many of my best friends to this day are people I worked with at IBM.
