About Cahit D.

Cahit Dönmez graduated from Fırat University (Turkey) in 1998 and completed his MSc and PhD thesis in geology from Çukurova University (Turkey). He started to work at the Department of Mineral Research and Exploration of the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) in 2004. Throughout the years he worked on many exploration projects, especially on ophiolite-related mineral deposits around Turkey. He wrote papers on chromite deposits and VMS-type deposits in national and international journals. He worked as a Unit Manager between 2012 and 2016 and as the Director of the Natural History Museum between 2016 and 2017. He was also Head of the Editorial Board of MTA between 2015-2019. He worked as head of the department of Mineral Research and Exploration at MTA between 2017- 2021. Now He is a Mineral Research and Exploration specialist at MTA.

The establishment and development of the industries based on such minerals as iron&steel, ferrochrome, copper, aluminum, chrome chemicals, boron products, ceramics, glass, cement was possible thanks to the mineral reserves that Mineral Research and Exploration Department discovered or made their discovery possible through the data it produced.
