I'm an experienced software engineer with a recent master's degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University where I concentrated on artificial intelligence and machine learning. In my previous life as a web application developer, I successfully designed, implemented, tested, deployed, and maintained enterprise-level web applications for our clients, whether on our own servers, the client's, a provider like Rackspace, or one of the clouds (GCP, AWS, Azure). In terms of languages, I used C# or Python for my everyday work, but I frequently also used C, PHP, and Java. Frameworks were similarly varied, from classic ASP at one point, through most .NET versions, including .NET Core, and in Python, frameworks like CherryPy, Flask, and Django. I also have experience with Angular, React, Vue, and Knockout on the front end, and for data, I've used traditional SQL data stores which were communicated with using stored procedures and ODBC connections, or more recently ORMs like Entity Framework or SQLALchemy. Additionally, I've used non-SQL databases like MongoDB, Milvus, and Neo4j.When I implemented enterprise web applications for clients, I successfully tackled the project by researching the client's workflow, interviewing stakeholders and users, and diving deep into their documentation, synthesizing that information, and devising a plan that I, or someone on my team, could communicate in clear, non-technical language, which would describe how we would get from their current state to their desired outcome, and what actual form the realization of those requirements would ultimately take. In one case, I had to become intimately acquainted with several Air Force training manuals for aircrew to work out the intricacies of the necessary supporting database schema. In other initiatives, I've led redesigns of workflows that were brittle and far more complex than necessary by consolidating and simplifying legacy applications, jobs, and tools, and facilitating more structured communication through the judicious use of web services (WCF and ASMX) and REST APIs.I am particularly drawn to environments that value collaboration, continuous learning, and the practical application of AI to solve complex problems.
