About C. Daniel Bowes

One of my primary reasons for transitioning to the ACLU of North Carolina is for the opportunity to fiercely challenge the individuals, conferences, associations, and other entities that have continually acted reflexively and with impunity to prevent much needed progress towards racial equity in the criminal legal system. This includes the urgent need to publicly and forcefully confront Governor Roy Cooper and Attorney General Stein for their hypocritical inactions on racial equity and fairness as well as the refusal to prioritize the safety of people in state prisons during Covid-19. Our 58-day vigil (Nov. 4, 2020-Jan. 1, 2021) outside the NC Executive Mansion to highlight Governor Cooper’s decades-long support of mass incarceration and the ongoing violence of false promises of reform was just the beginning. www.DecarcerateNowNC.com
