I work with a broad range of students as the facilitator of a project-based, curriculum-driven program here at NWACC. I mentor students and faculty as they complete semester-long projects as part of their project-based learning projects in STEAM classes. As a college professor, my primary objective is to facilitate the learning process for my students. I design courses and activities that allow my students to become actively engaged as they create their own learning experiences. My primary area of expertise is in "andragogical modeling" in the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). My focus is the development of best practices for engaging adult learners in the learning process and in the assessment of knowledge and skills gained through the learning experience. I love teaching, but most of all I enjoy engaging in the joy of discovery with my students as they explore and develop their own unlimited personal potential and realize the necessity of STEM literacy in a global society. I create a "safe" learning environment where students assess their own learning styles and collaborate as teams of diverse peers who teach each other and learn together through projects and activities. My greatest strength as a teacher is my ability to accept all students at their personal level of development and to motivate and encourage them to develop both course content knowledge and individual skills that will allow them to achieve success beyond college.
