Urban Dove provides young people, regardless of their economic or social background, the critical skills needed to develop into strong, successful adults who are economically, socially, and emotionally independent. As a SpEd teacher, I differentiate task-based learning and instruction to include accommodations and modifications to ensure that students get targeted interventions that meet their needs and skill level. I co-teach 4 class periods of core academic instruction daily. I also oversee IEP case management for 12 students. As the SpEd League Leader, I coordinate League 3’s (12th grade) behavior intervention plans and IEP case management.

Teach For America (TFA) is a selective leadership development program committed to achieving educational equity in the U.S. As a corps member, I committed to teaching for two years in a high-need community, where I was employed by a local school and worked full-time as a secondary Special Education teacher.

Virtual ESL instructor for Chinese elementary school children. Provided rigorous conversation practice and language development skills to students during 30-minute interactive lessons.

Independently planned and implemented ESL lessons for groups of 10-15 middle school and high school students to enhance their proficiency in oral expression, comprehension, and conversation.
