With a pen in one hand and a melody in the other, writing has always helped me transform the mundane into magic and stories into songs. When I look back, I'll think to myself how amusing it was that all my small poems turned into songs, just as every hum in the air turned into a melody in my head. Growing up in Miami's music-filled streets, writing came naturally to me. When I was younger, I always imagined that acting was my ultimate goal, but that changed the moment I was able to put together my first song despite having no instrument-playing talent. I knew then that I didn't have to conform to stories told by others, but instead I could create new stories and characters that lived among the pages not many people chose to read. Quite the poetic justice. Being a part-time freelance writer allows me to keep one hand in the writing world and the other on a variety of projects, thereby diversifying my talents. On a weekly basis, I can reach out to writing partners, with whom I collaborate on things like melody making, short stories, and songwriting. The constant push and pull of directions helps me always have a new one for the next project and story. On some days, it draws more from my romantic side, while on other days, it may lean more towards my dramatic side. Obtaining my BFA in creative writing not only enhances my analytical thinking but also improves the quality of my work.I may have traded the costume and mic for a pen and a headset, but my passion for being part of wonderful storytelling hasn't stopped yet!That's what I call a beat!
