A typical inspection plan for one part through one machine reduced in-machine inspection frequency, saving $9.6k yearly in cycle time, as well as external CMM inspection frequency, saving $5.5k yearly in inspection overhead costs. Some studies drove drawing revisions which better reflect design intent and machining process capability. Revisions resulted in reduced non-conforming hardware, unnecessary scrap, and required inspection frequency. • Accountable for implementation, maintenance, and training of SPC throughout Torrance site. SPC is required for all parts denoted as having Key Characteristics on the drawing. • Completed Statistical Correlation Studies for ensuring acceptance of multiple military and commercial assembly test stands. Purposes ranged from test stand relocation, to comparison and improvement. • Established stream of reliable inspection data into Q-Das from Zeiss CMM machines. Justified the move of Torrance’s data to its own server. • Completed Evaluations of Measurement Procedure on-site at Moog and off-site at suppliers to establish measurement system capability. Responsible for supporting improvement of each system as required. • Created and coordinated a cross-functional team aiming to improve throughput and quality of parts within the high-volume planet gear manufacturing cell.
