To meet the complex challenges being faced by patient partners, co-founded a virtual province-wide primary care support & improvement group for current patient partners. As a group chair, developed effective terms of reference and led ongoing improvements to PCPV activities, which maintained its strong monthly meeting engagement over numerous years. Partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Health Quality BC was leveraged to source expert speakers each month to discuss in-depth topics. Being the first provincial patient partner group of its kind, the MoH would regularly consult PCPV on emerging primary care issues. Together, members were better able to advocate in their roles across the province.

Serve as an adviser and patient advocate on two Director-level committees responsible for planning and evaluating services for all the Vancouver Coastal Health hospitals, as well as the regional Primary Care services. Research and analyze pertinent programs, from chronic diseases to the Urgent Primary Care Centres.

Invented a surgical medical device Target Tape X-Grid which increases the accuracy of incisions by correlation between the X-ray and the skin. Developed a second device for radiotherapy, X-Line. This device highlights the body contour in CT to improve treatment planning.Leadership – Coordinated all phases of the two medical device projects on schedule and within a tight budget from prototyping and testing, to marketing of approved, sales-ready devices. Recruited a lead investor and mentor.Innovation – Discovered the clinical need and led the development of X-Grid, as well as spearheading the second invention for radiotherapy. Created intellectual property assets. Wrote and filed three US provisional, an international PCT, and four national applications (Canada, US, EU, and Japan).Problem Solving – Reviewed literature to specify a targeted problem in radiotherapy, and then designed the research studies that developed the X-Line solution, demonstrating its feasibility and benefits. Partnered with the BC Cancer Agency and brought the product to beta sales within one year.Collaboration – Liaised with patients, surgeons, and Health Canada representatives to develop the evaluation framework. Built relationships, coordinated discussions, and obtained feedback from dozens of Canadian and US surgeons in spinal, orthopedic trauma, and thoracic surgery, as well as physicians in pain management, and radiotherapy fields.Marketing – Presented at two spinal surgery conferences. Began sales relationships with ten hospitals in Canada and the USA. Designed and created marketing collateral. Explored distribution partnerships and acquisition opportunities.

Worked on the consumer financing program. Streamlined interdepartmental communication for the program and analyzed data trends for the Credit/Risk Department.Developed and presented an internal paper on contactless payments to department Vice Presidents that anticipated the use of contactless credit cards as a TransLink payment method. Decreased on-boarding time for new cardholders through restructuring departmental processes.
