About Christine Tomlinson

I'm a federal public servant with over five years experience at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) with experience in public affairs, policy and data analysis, and communications. I am currently in an acting role with the Ministerial Services at AAFC. Previously I was working the Strategic Policy Branch at AAFC, where I research and analyze data insights on consumer market trends that influence industry. Prior to this, I was in the Public Affairs Branch as a Communications Officer, where I provided senior executives and staff high-profile results of data trends, and leading and supporting multiple contracted research projects and consultations.I am deeply passionate about helping others and volunteering. I am a Co-Chair of the Sprout Student Network at AAFC, where I help students navigate working in the public service and am a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Network Committee. Outside of work, I am the Assistant Curator at the Sunshine Valley Tashme Museum, a Japanese-Canadian internment site from 1942-1946. This volunteer experience is near and dear to me. I continue to meet many internment survivors and family members through my tours and share a journey of remembering. I co-led six internment survivor tours this past summer and fall (2022) and have helped organize and assembled exhibits like the Landscapes of Injustice: Broken Promises traveler exhibit, written grant proposals, host museum tours, and coordinated the 5th anniversary celebration for the museum.I am also a volunteer Grief Support Facilitator where I help grievers feel supported and understood by exploring the process and each grief journey, guiding them through a time of hardship. I have learned that grieving comes in many forms and waves, effecting many parts of a person's life and through support we can get through it together.
