Microsoft HoloLens holographic interface for medical data visualization. Lead programmer in developing in Unity (C#) a holographic interface to visualize MRI and ultrasound (US) data and anatomical structures for image-guided surgeries. Created a communication protocol for the HoloLens to communicate via TCP/IP to a PC to enable heavy processing tasks. Implemented functionalities triggered by hand gestures and voice commands to facilitate user interaction. Developed algorithms for mapping real MRI data to the 3D representation generated from the data. Designed holographic scenes and system features. Developed in C++ (with ITK and QT libraries) a standalone program that allows the user to visualize their own generic MRI and US data as well as upload object files to visualize and interact in the HoloLens. Also volunteered to design and implementation Educational robot. Incorporated potentiometers on the OWI Robotic Arm Edge joints to collect angle data with the purpose of students using it as a learning tool for an introduction to robotics. Designed in Autodesk Fusion the 3D parts that hold the potentiometers mounted on the robot’s joints. Developed an Arduino sketch that manages the rotation of the motors. Programmed a GUI in MATLAB to interact with the Arduino to display the current angle and easily manipulate joint location. Provided documentation for the students to assemble their class robot and instructions on how to use the programs.

I collaborated in ideating, designing, and developing an Ethical AI Scenario Game to expose AI practitioners to multiple ethical scenarios that contain an artificial intelligence component with potentially dangerous consequences. This project aims to motivate AI practitioners to integrate into their development process the habit of considering ethical AI principles and evoke interest and concern towards the potential harm they might cause.

Create a databank of guiding questions to incite AI practitioners to think about ethical AI considerations in their work. These questions are inspired and justified by the NASA Ethical framework and Executive order 13960 recommendations. Furthermore, I searched among the available NASA development tools to identify which better fit our needs and began to create our customized web form system. Part of the requirements is to capture the information without overburdening the user and create a user-friendly form interface.

Develop a GUI interface in Unreal Engine that allows aviation engineers to easily navigate among the multiple modules they need during an AirSIM simulation. In addition, I prototyped a data visualization widget for each module to show an AI model's prediction. The objective is to provide a tool to help aviation, and AI exports better communicate their information and ideas. Additional tasks included interviewing a stakeholder to gather the requirements, multiple mockups and 2D asset design in Figma, development in Unreal Engine, and bi-weekly update presentations to the team.

Review and revise literature on AI ethical considerations, including the NASA AI Ethics Framework. I identified and gathered possible quantifiable metrics based on the review and proposed multiple high-level implementation designs. As a deliverable, I drafted a report of my learnings. In addition, I created a presentation on the proposed (qualitative) mapping of the Environment for Data Engineering in Virtual Reality (EnDEVR) AI components to the metrics. I also designed and developed 3D assets (a virtual binder) to view the evaluation and score of the AI model.
