Legal And Multilateral Affairs Officer At The Embassy Of Ecuador To The Netherlands
Current•I am responsible for the management of bilateral and multilateral affairs, relating to the negotiation of bilateral agreements, such as the investment treaty (BIT) and a treaty for the avoidance of double taxation, to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and co-responsible for the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons(OPCW), and the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH).•I provide political and legal advice and support to the Ambassador on a wide rage of political and legal issues and I am also in charge of monitoring Dutch politics.•Besides, I act in the capacity of Alternate Governor of Ecuador at the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC).Achievements•Worked on the re-opening of the Embassy of Ecuador to the Netherlands after a five-year closure, within the framework of an expansion of the Ecuadorian diplomatic presence in various European countries, including Austria and Belgium.•Promoted the subscription of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ecuador and Clingendael Institute on Diplomatic Training. •On bilateral affairs, I had the opportunity to work on the II Meeting on Political Consultations between Ecuador and the Netherlands, where both countries successfully built confidence and established a more dynamic dialogue, forging mutual collaboration. In this occasion, the parties signed a Joint Statement on the launch of the negotiation of a BIT, where I provided legal analysis and assisted in the drafting of the Ecuadorian model.•Besides, I coordinated and worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and with other stakeholders for the Official Visit of the President of Ecuador, which was the first visit of an Ecuadorian Head of State after 24 years, and the Official Visits of the Minister and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador to The Hague. Prepared briefings and coordinated the whole agenda for the visits.
