Worked directly with their primary client, Pacific Gas and Electric, to improve the time to market of their client's deliverables. Some through new tooling, and others through introducing processes.* Built out a portal to automate the build-out of their virtual environments reducing the time it takes to provision a system from weeks of manual work to one hour.

Started with Sun Microsystems, and continued with Oracle as a sustaining engineer working on all parts of the Solaris Kernel from virtual memory to filesystems. Resolved high profile issues impacting Sun's largest customers including Bloomberg, Chase, and Verizon. Then transitioned to work on the Solaris debugger and DTrace.* Collaborated between engineering and services organizations addressing major performance issues with hardware failure and how Solaris addressed such failures.* Addressed critical issues within Solaris resulting in unpredictable outages costing tens of millions of dollars in downtime.

"All of the easy problems were solved years ago." As a member of their sustaining engineering group, I solved the very difficult problems that plagued Sun's high end enterprise customers with a focus on the SPARC based high end systems.Key accomplishments (that have saved untold millions of dollars for Sun's customers):* Resolved performance issues around the virtual memory system allowing the system to remain operational in the face of memory failure allowing the enterprise to continue running until they could replace the faulty memory.* Resolved latent memory corruption issue on Sun's T series systems that would result in random system crashes

Instrumental in migrating SDSC's legacy account management system from a dedicated single user system to a web based application allowing for multiple users to administer accounts and reduce time of account creation. Additionally played a key role in the TeraGrid account management working group and managing the account and usage tracking system used by the TeraGrid.* Presented at first conference dedicated to TeraGrid project* Contributed to the TeraGrid Usage Record specification* Primary administrator and developer of the TeraGrid account management system which propagated account and usage data across TeraGrid member sites* Performed backend analysis and development of replacement account management system in use at SDSC managing access to their supercomputers and other assorted managed systems

Supported the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing at Purdue University with their collaboration with the Open Science Grid and TeraGrid.* Collaborate through Open Science Grid and TeraGrid working groups to integrate software components to support Purdue's involvement with the Large Hadron Collider as a Tier 3 site* Prototype interfacing with SDSC's GPFS cluster* Created interface allowing for job submissions to multiple computational grids (presented during Supercomputing 2005)Provided system administration and development experience in grid computing for Purdue's high performance computing center with their Teragrid and Open Science Grid collaborations.
