Pre-Scholars Academy is a five-week long program LSU has before each fall semester. Typically, the program is for prospective students who don't quite meet the requirements to be enrolled at LSU- upon completion of the program, they are accepted into the university. However, this year was different. The group of students was even more diverse, as the program merged with several other similar academies. Now, it also held students who excelled in high school, who could attend the program and enter college with six extra hours. The 2024 turnout had over 250 students, with peer staff being responsible for the entire body. I worked as a Social Integration peer staff, where my job was to ensure students were correctly acclimated to college life and LSU Culture. This was done through many therapy sessions, multiple mitigated arguments and 24/7 support (including weekends). This was on of the most strenuous jobs I've been apart of, but the students transisiton from rowdy young adults, to future leaders made it incredibly rewarding.
