I build software for biotech, health, and neuroscience using techniques from machine learning, imaging, data modeling, and visualization. Currently, I'm working at Blueprint on tools to help people understand their health and make decisions that promote longevity.I have fifteen years of experience at biotech startups, academic research institutes, medical campuses, and consulting. My scientific research looks at the development and evaluation of computational tools for biomedicine, especially neuroscience applications of imaging and analytic techniques. I’ve applied these approaches to study frontoinsular cortex, stroke therapeutics, Alzheimer’s disease and other topics. I’m the creator of the Quantitative Imaging Toolkit (QIT), a software package used in my research and that of numerous other labs and studies, which received grant support from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Imaging Scientist program. I’ve also worked on applying computer vision and machine learning to digital pathology images for cancer clinical diagnostics and prognostic testing at biotech startups.

Staff Machine Learning EngineerPathai Sep 2022 - Oct 2023Boston, Massachusetts, UsBuilding computational tools to transform research, clinical development, and diagnostics using AI-powered pathology. Developed, evaluated, and integrated an additive multiple instance learning model for a HER2 breast cancer scoring RUO product. Created novel techniques for improving model interpretability and usability of algorithm products deployed in diagnostic labs. Supported the broader ML organization through mentoring, research initiatives, and digital pathology software platform stewardship. -
Postdoctoral Scholar - Research AssociateUsc Mark & Mary Stevens Neuroimaging And Informatics Institute Nov 2016 - May 2021Los Angeles, Ca, UsWorking at the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI) at the USC Stevens Institute for Neuroimaging and Informatics (INI), my research involved the development of neuroimage analysis methods and interdisciplinary collaboration with neuroscientists and clinicians to apply them in biomedical studies. My projects involved image-based quantitation of perivascular spaces, changes in brain connectivity in typical neurodevelopment, imaging of cranial nerves, and creating a workflow for preclinical rodent image analysis for a multi-center studies of post-traumatic epilepsy. -
Graduate ResearcherBrown University Computer Science Aug 2010 - May 2016Providence, Rhode Island, UsConducted applied computational research in analytics, visualization, and machine learning for human neuroimaging. My research focused on the development and evaluation of tools for modeling white matter using diffusion MRI. Through various neuroimaging studies, I designed, developed, and applied a software package called the Quantitative Imaging Toolkit (QIT). I also TA-ed the class, Virtual Reality Design for Science and I contributed to development and public outreach of the Brown YURT retina-resolution virtual reality environment. Received a Brown University Dissertation Fellowship for two years. -
