Clinical Research Assistant

Harvard Retinal Imaging Lab

Using an advanced OCT-angiography machine and a machine learning visual function test, I am characterizing the structure-function relationship between age-related macular degeneration, visual acuity, contrast acuity, and the risk factors for disease progression.

Amphipathic Polymer And Membrane Protein Researcher

Dr. Charles Sanders' Lab

Vanderbilt University

A primary focus of the research was to solubilize membrane proteins into complex polymers, called amphipols, from E. Coli and then assess the biophysical characteristics of the membrane proteins using differential scanning fluorimetry and NMR. Once proteins were solubilized in amphipols, these proteins were then delivered to mammalian cells to identify if membrane insertion occurred and functionality was maintained using confocal microscopy and other techniques. Further, we also characterized how mammalian cells respond to amphipol treatment alone.Additionally, I performed a bioinformatics project in which I identified the causative genes for syndromes caused by microdeletions and microduplications within the human genome. The work is currently moving towards publication.

Research Assistant/First Author

Dr. Akhil Chawla Clinic

Northwestern University

Working alongside Dr. Chawla, I primarily reviewed germline mutations of pancreatic cancer and the risk associated with these variants. The research required extensive knowledge of the genomics of cancer - specifically pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma - and current screening methods for the disease. In collaboration with other clinicians, we were able to recommend improved screening methods based on the genetic and clinical characteristics of patients with pancreatic cancer. Further, my work as the primary author had a significant impact on my scientific writing abilities, understanding of medical ethics, and the review process. We were fortunate to be able to publish the review in the Journal of Pancreatology as well.I am also collaborating with Dr. Chawla on a project on a surgical case report of radiation-associated osteosarcoma of the chest wall and a review of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas of the chest wall.

Assistant Sales Manager

Naperville, Illinois, United States

As an assistant manager, I helped to recruit and lead a team of 4 sales representatives that secured over $35k in new business and an additional $5k in old business over a two-month period. The role required daily meetings, interviews, and educational lessons in which I taught sales techniques (up-selling, cross-selling) and how to close deals over zoom. During this time, I also managed to sell over $5k via COVID zoom meetings.

Sales Representative

Naperville, Illinois, United States

As an independent sales representative, the role required daily cold-calling and travel between homes in the Chicagoland region to perform sales presentations to homeowners. I became a top representative in the region with over $30k in sales for the summer, allowing me to enter Vector's President's Club. I also became proficient in prospecting, upselling, and following-up to maintain a large clientele. Daily meetings with upper management was crucial to being at the top of my game, and I developed a keen understanding of a leader's role in a sales company.
