Ever since I was a child, I've always looked at things and wondered, "How does that work?" Computers puzzled me especially; I would rack my brain for hours trying to discover the hidden secrets of how machines work. When I was 15, I finally saved up enough money to build my first computer, but it didn’t answer my question. It felt more like assembling a very expensive Lego set, and I was left with even more questions than before. I believe this curiosity has got me to where I am today. By having this early determination (maybe a fair bit of naivety) I can delve into the discomfort of acquiring new skills with ease. To give an example of this, I recently learned how to skateboard. Nobody I knew could ride skateboard, much less teach me, so it was up to me to fall over and over until I could ride. Utilizing this skill has been hugely beneficial in pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering at the University of North Texas and as an active member of the Computer Science club, where students of all majors come to workshops, discussions, and to meet likeminded peers. Ever since building my first computer, my curiosity has only grown alongside my love for technology, and I hope to be designing the next generation of computer hardware and software someday.
