I am currently working as Maintenance Mechanic/Welder for Covanta Energy, specializing in the maintenance and repair of all critical machinery of a waste to energy power plant. This includes maintenance and repair to boilers, boiler tubes, Martin Gmbh Stoker system, Pumps, Hydraulics, structural/code welding, bearings, and fan/blowers. I have served as a Machinery Technician for 12 years, with tours of duty spanning three major ships and one ashore billet. My duties and responsibilities varied with each assignment, and as such I have garnered a vast amount of experience in the following: performing maintenance and repairs on internal combustion engines (large diesel to small gasoline), main propulsion power transmission equipment, AC generators, refrigeration & air conditioning, and small electrical equipment repair/troubleshooting. I also have extensive experience in maintaining lubricating oil and cooling systems, water distilling plants, conducting analysis tests of engine oil and cooling water, various fuel oils, saltwater, and fresh water. I have experience in the repacking and fitting of valves, valve seat repair, interpreting diagrams, blueprints, and other materials to obtain technical repair information. I have received training in the use of oxyacetylene and electric-arc equipment to perform brazing, cutting, and welding operations. I have had advanced training in the troubleshooting and correction of hydraulic system malfunctions in steering systems, cranes, controllable pitch propellers, winches, and hydraulic fin stabilizing systems. I have been responsible for the chemical treatment program of internal combustion engine cooling systems and heat exchangers. I have also received training in budgeting, procurement, and preparation of engineering maintenance reports/records through software and hard copy reports. I have also served as the supervisor of an eight man repair division, where I was responsible for the scheduling, oversight, and reporting of reoccurring maintenance procedures as well as any unforeseen equipment casualties.
