The Postal Inspection Service maintains a Security Force staffed by approximately 650 uniformed Postal Police Officers, who are assigned to critical postal facilities throughout the country. As a Postal Police Officer I am required to qualify with agency-issued shotguns and my assigned sidearm and am designated as a special police officer under Title 18, Part 2, and Section 3061(c). I assist Postal Inspectors with arresting suspects for crimes committed against the United States Postal Service and felonies committed in their presence. I provide perimeter security, inside and outside the grounds of many post offices both day and night as a visible deterrent at postal facilities located primarily in urban high-crime areas and respond to emergencies including disturbances, assaults, theft, robberies and other incidents threatening the safety of The U.S. Postal Service, postal employees and its customers. I escort high-value monetary mail shipments on routes to and from processing centers while armed with my assigned firearm. I have provided escort assistance to Postal Inspectors transporting arrested criminals federally charged to and from federal detention centers while they await court proceedings. Another essential protective duty I perform is to provide real time address verifications whether in person, by conducting surveillance operatives or by searching the many database systems providing law enforcement with streamlined pertinent data.

As an Acting Inspection Service Operations Tech, (ISOT), I performed a large variety of administrative and human resource office functions that directly supported the Inspection Service. My jobs primarily consisted of answering phone calls for emergencies and determine the necessary action to take, scheduling conference meetings, processing address verifications through COARS for inspector cases, submitting fake money order logs, data entry to 509B volume break-in reports, transcribing taped interviews conducted by inspectors for trial. I managed the directing of incoming mail. I receive notifications of suspected mail theft, fraud, prohibited mail and assaults on or by a Postal employee and process the information for the FCD database system. I conducted address verifications to aid Case Inspectors in locating suspects. I transcribed sworn statements of interviews. I compiled spreadsheets of fraud victims for Case Inspectors to use to support their cases.

As Sales and Services Associate I provided customer service at the retail window. I processed mail distribution and mark ups, scanning the incoming certify, registered, insured and delivery confirmation mail and parcels identifying them as received, delivered or returned. I I served as the Insurance Claims Examiner, a certified Passport Clerk ,P.O. Box Clerk, ensuring the annual P.O. Box verification reports were done and the payments and notices were sent to customers. I personally maintained the changing of the locks for turnaround on P.O. Box rentals and forwarding P.O. Box mail. I also acted as Postmaster. I handled the daily business of the Barker Post Office by conducting the station’s monthly stamp stock inventory audits and ordered necessary inventory as needed. I also conducted audits on employee cash reserve and corrected any overage or shortages that occurred through the 1412s. I verified on a monthly basis all clerk and station money orders. I conducted all the back office reports such as EDW Home, COARS, EFlash, EFleet , eAccess, TACS, FAMS, Track and confirm, WebBATS, CICRS, CPMS, CSDRS, Transfer Of Accountability Forms, My Post Office and addressed any (Electronic Consumer Complaints) ECCs we may have received in the mandated 72 hour time frame. I processed payroll and time and attendance for the station's employees. I managed the employee schedules and accommodated scheduled leave and unscheduled leave with casuals I personally trained, ensuring proper workflow for the needs of the operation. I trained three new employees in passport services, P.O. Box services, and (Point Of Sale) POS one systems and customer sales and services. I trained and qualified two new employees on passport acceptance procedures in accordance with the U.S. Department of State procedures. I established cash reserve drawers for three Part Time Flexible (PTF) employees to have as back up clerks to the Regular and PTF employee, for unexpected absences or scheduled leave.

My primary trade job non-combat was a Disbursing clerk, processing payroll for more than 15000 sailors, I handled accounts receivables from and for international merchants while port side overseas. I ordered and distributed supplies. I maintained on board atm machines and credit cards, account logs for Southern San Diego Personnel Support Detachment, Detachment Optar of $111,200.00. I was a travel claims examiner, processing and answering inquiries involving travel settlements for active, retired and reserve personnel via IATS. I working with computers and machinery provided me the opportunity to work with such software programs as; Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook, Fax, Scan Email, Excel, People Soft U.S. Navy, Defense Joint Military System (DJMS), Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR), Collection Point Management System(CPMS), Web Box Activity Tracking System (WebBATS), Customer Inquiry and Response System (CICRS), My Post Office, Change of Address Reporting System (COARS), Accurint (Investigators Network for Law Enforcement), Fuel Asset Management System (FAMS), TXPDS Driver License Imagery and Financial Crimes Database (FCD) .
