Led the exposure and development of World Class Manufacturing methodology, originally defined within Discrete manufacturing industries ( Lean, JIT, 6 Sigma etc ), across ICI's continuous and batch process manufacturing assets including Paints, Acids, Plastics, Surfactants, Nylon, Explosives and Acrylics in UK, Central Europe, US and South Africa securing over $30M of incremental annual gross margin. In addition to leading a step change in business profitability through manufacturing improvement the work also secured the viability of two plants (250 Union employees) slated for closure by turning them around from 'make to stock' to 'make to order', achieved with minimal CAPEX spend. Ensured sustainability of gains through the formation of networks ( Manufacturing Systems Engineering Network for professional inter-business engineering collaboration and Manufacturing Improvement Leaders Forum for personal and professional growth of First Line Supervision ) to drive WCM competence deep into the heart of the organization. Helped lead the development of one of the worlds largest manufacturing performance benchmarking databases aimed at quantifying the 'Hidden Plant' that exists through sub-optimal operation and maintenance of manufacturing assets, measured via Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). This Hidden Plant can be significant in value and can be activated, typically, with minimal CAPEX spend.
