As a Patient Service Representative, I check people in for their appointments in the cardiology department. I navigate the Epic System to update their insurance or personal information and register them for their appointments. I also work in their call center; I take calls from patients, doctors, nurses, and pharmacies. I will navigate to either take a message, speak with a nurse, or personally ask someone depending on who is calling and what they need. I go through our work queue and call patients to schedule appointments from their referrals. As a Health Unit Coordinator I was in charge of answering patient call lights. I had to answer phone calls from patient’s families and hospital staff. I had to page doctors for inpatient referrals. I also had to admit and discharge patients.

As a Patient Access Specialist, I check people in for their appointments in the radiology department, as well as for lab work. I have to put in orders for lab work, x-rays, EKGs, and so on. I navigate the Epic System to update their insurance or personal information and register them for their appointments.

I was a server at Perkins. I worked both mornings and nights. We were typically understaffed so I also acted as a host while serving. I would greet people, seat them, take their orders, make sure their meals were great, then I would check them out at the register. I would also clean my own tables.

I was a hostess, busser, to-go specialist, food runner, and a culinary assistant. I would greet and seat people as a host. I would clean the tables and prepare for large parties as a busser. I would take orders over the phone, key it into our system, gather the food items, and put the orders together in bags as a to-go specialist. Also, I would take their form of payment and either give them their change or swipe their card. As a food runner, I would take the prepared trays to the correct table and hand it out. After handing out each meal I would make sure they were not missing anything and did not need anything before leaving them to their meals. As a culinary assistant, I would take the plated food from the hot windows and put them on trays. I would also put their sides with their main dishes, add soups or salads to the tray, ensure the correct order was being taken to the correct table, and make sure it had all its condiments.

I was to deep clean the entire clinic at night, and clean rooms between each patient. I was also to help whenever asked. I helped with cleaning animals, cutting nails, trimming teeth (rabbits), and so on. They also had a pet Chinchilla that I was in charge of caring for.
