As Vice President of Programs and Policy, Cailey oversees the critical work of education, support and advocacy. She is focused on developing Ovarian Cancer Canada’s national education programming and supporting those diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Cailey is also working to identify the gaps and opportunities present in the health care system to improve outcomes for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Cailey’s advocacy work centers on providing decision makers with the evidence and insights necessary to ensure everyone with ovarian cancer receives the best possible care, regardless of background or where they live in Canada.

Founded in 1891, the Canadian Education Association (CEA) is very proud of the role it plays on both a pan-Canadian and provincial-level. CEA is a network of passionate educators advancing ideas for greater student and teacher engagement in public education. CEA does this by conducting research and spreading useful ideas through its publications, website, workshops, symposia, and social media channels; supporting education systems to be more adaptive to the rapidly changing needs of all learners in an effort to reverse the trends of students ‘tuning out’ of their learning opportunities.As Director of Strategic Partnerships, my role was to increase the organization’s visibility and expand the reach of CEA’s programs of work through creating and developing partnerships, and nurturing stakeholder relations (including ministries of education, school districts, faculties of education and educators). A key player on a small management team, I helped to define and implement strategic directions and planned and executed projects and programs. My responsibilities ran the gamut from project development and management to partnership relations and grant proposal writing in order to advance the strategic role CEA plays in the Canadian education scene: as a though and action leader, a connector, and a knowledge mobilizer.

Roots of Empathy's mission is to build caring, peaceful, and civil societies through the development of empathy in children and adults. Roots of Empathy is an evidence-based classroom program that has shown significant effect in reducing levels of aggression among school children while raising social/emotional competence and increasing empathy.• Directed the planning and implementation for over 2,000 programs across Canada for $6 million non-profit organization. • Led task forces related to program costing, capacity building and growing to scale, which resulted in key recommendations for program efficiencies.• Revamped the funding proposal development and reporting process to include more accurate and detailed information resulting in excellent feedback from funders. • Developed and evaluated various pilot projects to address challenging financial environments while maintaining the quality of programs and their outcomes.• Oversaw work of 15 Senior Managers at National and Provincial Offices; quickly reconfigured staffing and reporting structure to address inefficiencies and low staff morale which resulted in improved communication and increased staff retention rates.• Liaised with a wide variety of key stakeholders including provincial governments and community partners which significantly enhanced the continuity of communication and more positive relationships.

Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) is the non-profit, provincial government agency responsible for significantly increasing organ and tissue donation rates across Ontario. TGLN is committed to creating a culture that enables every Ontarian to make an informed decision about organ and tissue donation and to support healthcare professionals in implementing those decisions. • Researched national and international organ donation education programs resulting in a comprehensive project proposal that garnered 100% of requested government funding.• Coordinated the development of One Life…Many Gifts, a cross-curricular secondary school program on time and on budget within the challenging context of a diverse Steering Committee, multiple consultants and 20 school boards.• Trained teachers to deliver the curriculum in 240 secondary schools across Ontario. Due to an emphasis on sustainable growth, One Life…Many Gifts continues in more schools each year. • Worked strategically and collaboratively with organizations not typically supportive of organ donation to increase rates in their communities. Projects were coordinated with such groups as the Toronto Board of Rabbis, the Canadian Tamil Congress, the Jamaican Canadian Association and the Scarborough Hospital’s Chinese Outreach Committee.• Developed community and leadership programs to change public health behaviour, resulting in stronger community engagement and accurate messaging.• Significantly improved relations with volunteers and stakeholders across the province, which increased the number of joint-activities during annual National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week.

The CEC Network was a private non-profit, which promoted Canadian education to international students and supported the internationalization goals of 300 Canadian client schools across the country.• Through strategic analysis of the international education market, organized approximately 35 annual education programs and events in over 20 countries with growing numbers of paying Canadian participants each year.• Demonstrated a high level of adaptability by quickly developing policies and talking points when crises arose in event locations. In particular, within hours of 9-11 established strategies and responses for Canadian clients and international stakeholders regarding upcoming programs in the Middle East. • Investigated new project feasibility by consulting with domestic and international stakeholders. For instance, travelled to Russia to research and budget for establishment of Moscow office meeting with Embassy officials, Canadian Eurasia Russia Business Association and representatives of Russian universities. • Created innovative strategies to address international education challenges such as attracting international students to Canadian education institutions within a highly competitive market.• Directly supervised four National Office staff members and trained 22 international office Managers by utilizing key leadership and coaching abilities.
