Assistant Professor

Recife, Pernambuco, Br

TL/DR: • Department Coordinator for three years.• Courses: Operating Systems (Unix/Linux based), Management Information Systems, Programming Languages.• Member of the Machine Learn Research Group.(Short) Teaching Statement:As a Professor at IFPE, I had the opportunity to experience formal teaching and try many options to tailor the learning environment. After a while, I found my own style of teaching, always leaving the protagonism of class to the concepts being explained. This approach usually keeps students excited and focused on learning the subjects.I have a broad set of teaching interests that goes beyond my research focus (Machine Learning). I’m fascinated by most of the core computer science courses, such as Algorithms, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Data Structures, and so on. I am also interested in teaching supplementary courses covering novel paradigms, programming languages, frameworks, and tools used in the industry. More than that, I believe the teacher has a key role in developing the student's character. As a teacher, I consider myself directly related to student growth in all fields, academically, as well socially, and emotionally. More than a technician, the teacher is helping to create a citizen, someone who will play a role in society. Reflecting on my own experiences as a student, I did my best in classes where I was incited into real-world problems for society. Therefore, I am always trying to bring those problems into the classroom, assuming that this can build not only technical skills but a critical mindset. Finally, I consider myself a being in constant development. I try to learn daily, either with my colleagues, with the students, or even by myself. What I wrote down here reflects my previous experience as a student, as a teacher, and as a person. My teaching philosophy is continually changing and adapting itself to the new necessities of the students and society.
