I am currently employed as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner and Therapy Mentor at Everyday Independence. I have the ability to focus on each participant's vision, be able to navigate the unknown. In the PBS community you are invited into the home of families that are stressed, burnt out, that have complex diagnoses, fatigue, anxiety, depression, trauma and sometimes with no additional family backup. My role is to advocate for our participants, their family and for Quality of Life. How do we achieve relationships with key stakeholders:o Building positive relationships built on trust. o It is important to understand all facets of your participant, almost like putting a puzzle together. o Never forget the ‘human element’ of what we do and who we engage with. o Use appropriate nonverbal communication/body language. o Engaged active listening. o Capacity to communicate with self-confidence. o Emotional Intelligence- the ability to identify and understand the emotions of all individuals involved in supporting out participants. o Working in a multi-disciplinary team, working towards our participant’s goals, and collaborating.I demonstrate resilience and the capacity to overcome challenges. I have a Positive outlook on life. I call it determination others call it 'being stubborn.' My passion/advocacy for an excellent quality of life for all. Good at listening and good at giving advice. High level of emotional intelligence. Can find a reason to laugh under any circumstances.Knowledge of contemporary therapy practices and services:o Circle of Trust. o Person-Centred Approach. o Evidence-based therapies. o PBS processes used to review, analyse, and translate the scientific evidence. o Four key elements include evidence, expertise, decision-making and context. o Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs is fundamental in the PBS space. Ability to compile, analyse and present statistical data. I have demonstrated the following in my current position: o Write my hypotheses and design my research design.o Collected data using a variety of tools. o Written a summary of my data with descriptive statistics. o Tested my hypotheses. o Interpreted my results. o Presented my findings.Experience or knowledge with risk prevention and management.o Identify the risk, triggers, and environment triggers. o Assessing and managing potential issues that can have a negative impact on an organisation. o Being mindful of potential risks and what could go wrong.o Always be prepared for the expected and unexpected. o Focus on work-life balance.
