I am a teacher in San Marcos Unified School District (SMUSD), where I create differentiated opportunities for deep understanding for all learners, including students with English as a second language, students with special needs, and gifted and talented students. I use a wide variety of teaching methods, such as inquiry-based learning, strategies from Project Glad, IMSE Orton-Gillingham comprehensive plus and morphology, and project-based learning, to engage and motivate students in various subjects.I work with and lead my grade level team to assess and evaluate student growth, and create action plans on class-wide, group-wide, and individual basis in response to student data. I collaborate with the families of students, Learning Specialists, School Counselors, Assistant Principal, and Principal in providing students with academic and social support, and attend family/support meetings as needed. Additionally, I have received extensive training from Solution Tree to implement a shift toward a PLC mentality within the entire school. I have also received MTSS certification from OCOE and work to support staff on implementing the MTSS framework to support all learners. I have taken on leadership roles in leading and training staff on mathematical practices to support student learning, serving as the Third Grade Site Lead, and NGSS site lead, and have also served as the site technology lead to support technology implementation through remote distant learning. I have a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University, and I am MTSS Certified through OCDE. My goal is to empower students and educators to achieve their full potential through effective and innovative teaching and learning. I strive to continue to be a lifelong learner and be current with best practices in education to support 21st century students.
