Working in the largest exhibit in the aquarium to ensure the health of the animals by feeding and cleaning within the tank. This involved scuba diving a few times a day in the 23ft deep tank to ensure all animals had access to food as well as making sure the tank is scrubbed and vacuumed for the animals and for guests viewing the exhibit. Preparing food, cleaning behind the scenes, recording feeding and behavioral notes on the animals, and reporting changes to staff were everyday tasks. When there was an animal that needed an exam the team all worked together to collect the animal, ensure its safe transfer to see the veterinary staff, and its safe return to the tank. This was a 14 week position in the Giant Ocean Tank.

Basic animal husbandry tasks similar to that of my internship. Daily feeding, cleaning, maintenance, and observations. Assisted new interns and volunteers with learning these tasks.

Caring for aquatic animals that go through a quarantine process before going into exhibits. This includes feeding, medicating, cleaning habitat, and daily observations. Also includes scuba diving in tanks to clean, and projects such as training some of the animals. Working with a range of animals from sharks to small fish.
