I represent companies and individuals who are navigating their interactions with the state or federal government. I help clients who need help identifying and investigating potential problems, implementing compliant practices and providing training, defending lawsuits that the government has brought, and presenting legal and factual defenses to a judge or jury. My substantive areas of expertise include healthcare, controlled substances, securities, consumer protection, cyber offenses and trade secrets, firearms, and financial fraud.Before entering private practice, I clerked for Judge James C. Dever III of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. I attended the University of Virginia School of Law, where I was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law and Politics and graduated Order of the Coif. I received my B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Georgia, where I was a Foundation Fellow and a critical supporter of the Bulldogs winning 40 games and an SEC Championship.
