Growing up, I was never entirely sure exactly what I wanted to do when I got older. However, I was entirely sure of what I did not want to do, which was anything in finance. I knew at an early age that people and building relationships are my passion, and at 18 years old, I couldn’t see how people and numbers went together, so I avoided it like I avoid the Starbucks line at 8 am. However, an offer to work in NYC finance fell into my lap my final year in college. I knew nothing about finance, but I knew a lot about good opportunities. So I uprooted my life from a town of 800 people in small town Missouri to an office building double that size. I realize now that finance is all about developing relationships in order to help each other be successful. My personal motto has always been, “With every stress comes the opportunity for success." This motto encourages me to accept opportunities disguised as challenges because with every challenge comes the opportunity to learn a new lesson, apply it to yourself, and grow as a leader. As someone who likes thinking on her feet, creating solutions, and being challenged day in and day out, the constantly changing financial market provides me with the constant challenge I need to learn and grow. I find great value in learning from the experiences of others. I would love to connect and hear your story: caitlin.schaefer01@gmail.com
