·Implemented riparian and stream health assessment protocols to observe the impacts of the 2013 flood on stream ecosystems in Southern Alberta. Used a variety of biological measurements, including fish habitat availability, forest vigor measurements, and disturbance plant and noxious weed species assessments, to assess the overall resiliency of riparian areas to anthropogenic and natural disturbances on the landscape. This inventory of the Bow and Oldman Watersheds helps to inform forestry policy concerning the logging of riparian habitats. ·Directed the planting of nine different tree species in the Star Creek Watershed as part of a study on the effects of climate change on important tree species to forestry companies across the province. ·Assessed fish habitat risks and issues by sampling characteristics of drain points and sediment plumes across the province. This data was used to refine and calibrate a spatial model that helps predict the impacts of roads on Native Trout's habitat. ·Surveyed numerous drains and handled the spatial analysis and quality control checks for the drain assessment database and produced maps and figures to summarize the findings. ·Designed numerous training documents for project partners and stakeholder groups to competently assess drains and watercourse crossings across the province for sediment and fish passage issues. ·Preparation of spatial maps using the road sedimentation GIS model to direct stewardship groups and project partners to collect data for future remediation projects that will directly benefit the Native Trout habitat in the province. ·Implementing a program to have citizen scientists collect biological data concerning fish passage at structured crossings in Alberta through an app to help stewardship groups direct their remediation efforts on the landscape. ·Conducted research into the impact of shifting climates on important trees to forest biologists and forestry companies in Alberta.

Working under Dr. Ed McCauley and Dr. Fred Wrona at the University of Calgary Aquatic Ecology lab as a research technician has fostered my love and interested for aquatic ecosystems and their surrounding environments. My responsibilities include sample processing and analysis, database management and development, lab maintenance and research support, and assisting in maintenance of the University of Calgary Ecoreserve facility. I have had the opportunity to conduct independent research on lentic system metabolisms and their driving factors as well as conduct research into the effects of ice cover on under-ice aquatic ecosystems. I have prepared multiple presentations, workshops, and reports pertaining to research undertaken in the lab, and have attended several networking events with the greater aquatic scientific community in Calgary and across Alberta.

Starting as a research assistant in the lab of Dr. Harder gave me the background knowledge and expertise to be able to conduct my own research project with him. I was able to develop and complete an independent research project focused on plant mating systems and the evolutionary drivers pertaining to plant sexual systems. I was lucky enough to gain experience in identifying, caring for, and breeding plants in an outdoor setting. I also gained valuable lab knowledge in the areas of molecular genetics and biological statistic analysis. This experience gave me the ability to focus my studies and refine the scope of my biological interests. Other personal skills developed during this job include excellent time management and exceptional organizational ability. I have used and refined these personal discipline skills throughout my university and professional career

Working for Associate Professor Ralph Cartar and his graduate students helping to identify bees and other pollinators from the Southern Alberta region. This position taught me various entemologic taxonomy skills and allowed me embrace the strong relationship between plants and pollinators. I assisted with deploying bee boxes in the field and insect identification and preservation in the laboratory.

Working within the University of Alberta Bioacoustic Unit allowed me to explore the boreal forest and wetland habitats of Northern Alberta while finely tuning my plant identification skills. Working with acoustic recording technology to survey rare animals and species-at-risk taught me the importance of employing technology while conducting conservation work . Working in the field, in remote conditions, allowed me to throw myself into my work and absorb the nature surrounding me on a daily basis and acquire many valuable field skills, such as riding ATV's, using a GPS, and running transect lines in dense forest. I gained experience in the identification and collection of numerous native and invasive plant species from across Alberta in a variety of habitats, including pressing and preserving plant specimens.

Assisted with a graduate students study pertaining to the interaction of plants and pollinators in Dr. Lawrence Harder's lab. I gained valuable lab and field skills while working closely with many members of the lab in a collaborative environment. I also aided in set up and take down of filed sampling sites and was taught valuable organization skills in the area of field campaigns.

My role as a Day Camp Counselor allowed me to actively work outdoors, teaching childrenabout nature and developing team building skills with campers and other counselors. My main responsibilities included creating games and crafts for children aged 6-15 to teach them about the natural environment and our connection to it. Additionally, I was responsible for camper safety, both at day camps and over-night camps.
