When I was young, I remember my father allowing me to tag along to help him do survey work for some of his friends and our family. I loved getting to be out in the field and able to see first hand what took up so much of my fathers time. He slowly transitioned to office work which included CAD design and a new love for IT. Many take your child to work days involved designing small projects in CAD and I loved every minute.Fast forward to adult Caitlin who needed to make up her mind what she wanted to do for a living. She loved the flexibility that her father had to be not only in the office but out in the field. He recommended she look into GIS and the rest is history.At Entech Engineering, I’ve found a unique home, where I get to help all of our business units with their GPS and GIS needs. I manage our GPS equipment and go out in the field to collect data when ever I get the chance. I also do all of the post-processing of the data as well as process our drone imagery. I not only get to map out sewer and water systems but also get to update and maintain multiple large databases of information.Being able to make Story Maps and Dashboards to display data for our Company is one of my favorite aspects of my job. It gives me the flexibility to be creative and really put my cartography skills to work.CAD must be in my blood because in 2021 I joined the Design Team assisting them when needed on Civil Design work.If you have a GIS question, please message me, because I’d love to help you answer it!
