I am a third-year undergraduate student studying towards a Bachelor of Chemical and Process Engineering with Honours at Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato. I am studying chemical engineering because I have always been interested in work that makes businesses more sustainable and improves our global environment. With this degree I hope to make real change in businesses who are ready to improve their sustainability and have a part in creating a sustainable future for everyone. Given my passion for sustainability I have actively sought out an internship as part of my degree which focuses on developing sustainable business practices. I have completed a ten-week internship at Comvita Limited, the global market leader in Mānuka honey products and Mānuka honey science. During my internship I was given sole responsibility for improving and developing a material circularity indicator tool for Comvita. This has involved working independently to audit the current tool, improve the layout and functions within the tool, providing actionable ideas for change, presenting to leadership teams, and professional development workshops. During this internship I have developed and improved skills in Microsoft Excel auditing, analytics, presentation, giving and receiving feedback, interviewing, and networking.When I'm not working you can find me out by the local natural reservoir throwing a frisbee around, reading a book in bed, at the local drinking a latte, listening to kiwi rock on the way to the beach for a swim, or cooking meals which are sometimes amazing.
