News Editor
Reporter
Every day, I am responsible for pitching, reporting and writing one to two business stories. I conduct regular interviews with sources and have worked to build up strong relationships with decision makers in Louisville in order to remain informed on important goings-on. I connect with readers and promote stories through Twitter and my professional Facebook.
Reporter
As a business reporter, I produced two to three stories a day for the website while working on content for the weekly print publication. I balanced a mix of short-term stories with longer, more in-depth profiles of companies, business leader and key community issues. I also was responsible for maintaining an active presence on Twitter, where I interacted.
Staff Writer
As one of three staff writers who worked at the weekly news magazine. I reported on stories in multiple counties and on the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian reservation. I wrote about anything from a feature on a local man canoeing down the Mississippi to an in-depth story about the possible misappropriation of donations by a local fire chief. I was.
Editorial Intern
As an intern and the youngest in the office, I was responsible for posting regularly to the publication’s Twitter, writing daily web briefs and crafting longer stories for its weekly print edition. I picked up stories as needed in addition to generating my own story ideas. During my internship, I wrote company profiles and about community redevelopment.
Campus Staff Editor
I was responsible for editing stories and coordinating a 12-person staff. I posted stories to the website and to my staff’s Twitter account. Under my direction, the staff began live tweeting and live blogging from events, including Student Senate and Board of Trustees meetings, as well as incorporating audio and video into their reporting.
Freelancer
I covered county commissioners' meetings in addition to writing several hyper-local stories.
Cashier
I worked here through high school and during winter and summer breaks throughout college.
File Clerk
My main duties included organizing documents within the office, filing documents with the clerks and picking up documents at the courts. I have learned how to look-up various court documents such as complaints and requests for discovery.
Staff Writer
I wrote both hard news and feature stories, including coverage of Ohio University's budget shortfall and a student riot. I covered breaking news — including meningitis outbreaks and administrative departures — Board of Trustees meetings, Ohio U's Student Senate and crime. Much of my reporting at The Post dealt with public records.
Intern
I wrote a music review and several staff picks per week. Staff picks briefly highlighted interesting events taking place around Louisville. I also profiled several local artists and wrote a breaking news story about a homeless shelter that announced it would move farther away from its clients to expand in size. Collectively, the interns wrote a cover story.
