I managed a number of CONNECT’s educational, networking and recognition programs, including the Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Awards, the Global CONNECT Summit and the MIT Enterprise Forum San Diego, one of CONNECT’s affiliate programs. This entailed developing the programs, coordinating speakers and companies, managing all event logistics, developing traditional and social media marketing strategies, designing marketing collateral, coordinating volunteers, attending committee meetings, managing membership, creating budgets, producing special videos, writing press releases, maintaining websites, and more!CONNECT is a regional program that catalyzes the creation of innovative technology and life sciences products in San Diego County by linking inventors and entrepreneurs with the resources they need for success. Since 1985, CONNECT has assisted in the formation and development of more than 3,000 companies. The leadership of CONNECT attributes its success to the unique culture of collaboration between industry, capital sources, professional service providers and research organizations that CONNECT has sought to foster in the region.

As part of my program manager position at CONNECT, I served as the program manager for the MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) San Diego. The MITEF is a volunteer organization which promotes education, networking, entrepreneurism, and community among entrepreneurs, business leaders, technologists, capital and service providers. As the program manager, I managed a very large base of volunteers who dedicate their time to producing "edutainment" programs - programs that educate and entertain, and provide great networking! I managed a total of 10 programs a year for MITEF - themed panels, case studies, company pitch competitions, very special speaker events (such as Guy Kawasaki!), and a summer Wine Social, the premier networking event for the technology and life sciences community drawing 600+ executives. I was also responsible for the organization's governance, sponsorship, membership and budget.

While at HPR, I managed media relations, social media strategy, special event coordination, research and project and account coordination for clients in a wide range of industries, including energy, real estate, clean technology, professional services and nonprofit. I created custom tailored PR approaches to help companies achieve their business goals. Some of the clients I worked with include: Soitec, SDG&E, Smart City San Diego, Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine, Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative, Colliers International, OliverMcMillan, Employment & Community Options, CleanTECH San Diego, Snell & Wilmer, CONNECT and Viridity Energy.During my almost two years at HPR, I completed award-winning work on behalf of clients. I planned Soitec’s North American Manufacturing Facility Dedication in San Diego at the end of 2011, securing participation from top governmental officials and business leaders, including California Governor, Edmund G. Brown, California Public Utilities Commissioner, Timothy Simon, San Diego Mayor, Jerry Brown and San Diego Gas & Electric President, Jessie K. Knight. The successful event generated attendance from over 300 community and business leaders as well as produced media coverage in local, trade and national press – including Wall Street Journal and Business Week. I was awarded the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) 2012 Silver Anvil Award of Excellence - the PR industry's highest honor - for my work in planning Soitec's factory dedication.Also while at HPR, I completed an extensive award submittal on behalf of San Diego Gas & Electric, resulting in the company’s win of the 2012 Organizational Leadership Award from the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA)inaugural Climate Leadership Awards.

Provided account coordination including media relations, research, event coordination and social media, for a variety of clients that included restaurants and nonprofits. Gained knowledge of the real estate industry in working on client accounts that included Cushman & Wakefield, H.G. Fenton Company, Veralliance Properties and Westfield Properties.Event coordination for the grand opening of Campus Pointe and Lilly Biotechnology Center of San Diego hosted by Veralliance Properties and Eli Lilly
