An AmeriCorps Project Conserve position.Provide support to the Land Protection Director and Farmland Protection Director to respond to new landowner inquiries, analyze land projects, and pursue those that satisfy SAHC's criteria. Gain experience in strategic planning and conduction of land conservation transactions for both agricultural and non-agricultural projects.

Assist customers with service requests and orders in person and over the phone. Manage inventory, shipping and receiving of packages, and invoicing. Maintain balance within the workplace by communicating between service technicians, sales representatives, and customers.

Work on a self-managed schedule on the family farm. Responsibilities include: overseeing 70 acres of land including crops, egg production and sales, and animal needs; Operate and maintain farm equipment (tractor, zero-turn mower, skid steer loader, tiller, etc); Design, distribute, and manage marketing devices (fliers, logo, website).

Collaborated with a team of designers and the community to produce conceptual designs for riverside trail system, re-design of an existing park, and a regional visitor center in St. Paul, VA. Worked on an interdisciplinary team to site, design, and build a community classroom with re-purposed materials. Emphasis was placed on community engagement, project management and budgeting, construction documentation, and green building practices.

Waterbury, Vermont

Worked with a team to re-build, repair, and maintain portions of the Long Trail in the backcountry of Vermont. Provided visitors with information about the native alpine flora and fauna, local hiking trails and conditions, trail directions, and the history of the Long Trail. Gained the ability to thrive outdoors and hike great distances.
