Polymer Materials SME for Bose Concepts Division/Project Manager for new Bose Concept Projects -Determine appropriate materials for concept prototypes that solve for requirements such as biocompatibility, comfort, flame resistance, electrical conductivity, etc-Utilize processes such as compression molding, injection molding, and pressure-assist injection molding of rubbers and thermoplastics for low volume quick iterative runs of prototypes-Polymerize materials based on research to meet specialty concept product requirements-PM concept projects with the goal of maturing them enough to pass onto category leaders to add to product roadmaps

· Collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to identify, create, and implement strategies to improve the comfort of consumer electronic devices through materials and design· Selected and characterized material candidates and novel composites designed to mitigate heat and humidity buildup on skin· Developed methods to evaluate effects of these materials, both internal and external to the body· Fabricated prototypes designed to help sell ideas to internal partners· Co-authored a patent application detailing the novel composites created as part of this research· Hosted in-house presentations to update program teams on status of research and extend learnings to other research initiatives

· Collaborated with internal customers from Consumer Electronics Group to generate looks-like, feels-like, performs-like prototype parts out of soft elastomeric materials · Led effort to identify rapid and inexpensive means of generating prototype tools using polymeric materials· Recommended and/or selected appropriate materials and processing conditions based on customers’ product specifications· Utilized NX9 modeling software to assist in design of prototyping molds· Multi-tasking, customer service oriented environment posed with short deadlines and tight tolerances

· Researched and implemented techniques to reinforce Polypropylene for improvement in flexural strength of new part design· Collaborated with mold designers to produce multiple iterations of part by manually modifying most recent designs to predict performance of future iterations · Co-authored patent application detailing final design of new part· Using engineering principals, determined the deflection on extrusion line rollers and the necessary dimensions to ensure uniform film thicknesses on the line· Recognized a need for a new gear box on a pilot extrusion line and obtained one with necessary gear ratio to run at the correct speed.

· Assisted researchers in implementing microsphere technology into Meal, Ready to Eat packaging with the goal of reducing weight of packaging and resin usage while improving the insulation of flameless ration heaters to reduce “cook” time and improve distribution of heat in the meals· Prepared samples of microsphere extruded and blown films, filler modified films, and glass bubble films, and assessed density, thermal conductivity, tear strength, seal strength, and Young’s Modulus of packaging· Utilized collected data to determine the ideal loading of films to be used in the new MRE design· Prototyped microsphere-film packaged meals and held focus groups with on-base soldiers to determine perceived improvement over current MRE packaging
