Elon University

As an Elon Tour Guide, I represent our university to prospective students. This position lets me connect with new people almost daily, improving my networking skills. About three times a week, I meet families from all over the country or world and help them navigate the college decision process as well as our campus. Multiple families have reached out to me post-tour because they felt so welcome during their time on tour and were excited about what Elon could be for them. It is connections like these that add to the joy of working for the Elon University Admissions team.

As a peer educator for COR 1100, also called Global Experience, I instill confidence in Elon’s first-year students while teaching them information most have not learned. I help facilitate discussions three times a week and act as a support system for my students. I am the first student to be asked to take on a teaching assistant role for this course, and I am excited that I am paving the way at Elon. Thank you to Professor Paula Patch for trusting me with this role and guiding me along the way.

In the months I spent at French West Vaughan, I worked on over ten different accounts where I could apply different skills. These accounts include the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Children's Flight of Hope, Ethos Discovery, Durhan Housing Association, Cary, NC, Hapinest, BurgerFi, and Natural Dog Company. A majority of my summer was spent researching. For NCDOT, I aided in focus group discussions about our proposed campaigns. We found the most robust campaign and gauged public perception through these sessions, and I loved being part of it. Research I conducted for Children's Flight of Hope found new donation routes for the nonprofit organization to explore. Contributing to such a profound, vital organization was extremely rewarding. I could see what impact my own work has on the lives of those around me. My time at French West Vaughan taught me more than I could ever write in this little blurb. I am unbelievably thankful for the opportunities FWV provided me with this summer. Thank you to Colleen Pacheco for trusting me to be her Intern and being a great mentor throughout the summer.

As the summer intern for AEI Marketing, Jeff Urell trusted me with many projects. I aided in the creation of the Sea Pines CSA interactive map. In this project, I collaborated with local businesses to inform them of our work and ensure the map fit their needs. Strategy sessions with the AEI and Sea Pines team also became part of my role. Updating the map, SEO, and social media was also incorporated into my position. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at AEI and am so grateful for the connections and experience I gained.

Last semester, Fall of 2022, I served as a peer educator for Elon 1010. This introductory course allowed me to grow my leadership skills by leading 20 first-year students in their first semester in college. I still act as a mentor to my students and have helped many succeed in their first year. Thank you to Professor Paula Patch for encouraging to apply for this position and choosing me as your peer educator.
