There is a massive change coming to programming and technology, and I want to be apart of this change. In school, I was always the first person to put my name down for coding clubs, hackathons, code dojo's, etc. I had such a passion for web development (blame the html editing tool on Tumblr!) I taught myself basic HTML, CSS and Javascript by the age of 15. Regularly, I would check the app store, finding different apps that help me further my knowledge with programming, quickly being able to learn Python basics. During Sixth year, I took up the Computer Technology A level, and was able to apply all my knowledge to Java, which I got the hang of pretty quick. While in sixth year, me and my friend at the time helped to monitor a coding after class course for the 1st and 2nd years. During this, we would teach them the basics using apps such as Scratch, allowing them time to improve their problem solving skills whilst also giving them a little push in the right direction.I decided to do Software Engineering in Ulster University when I left school, and there I was able to delve into the different languages and hardware, and was able to learn more complex things you can do with them, integrating them all seamlessly, building a website that seemed alive in a way. I excelled in SQL, as well as Python and Web Development. For the first two years, I was sitting on a 2:1, and was accepted at Stiona for a placement. At Stiona, I gained a lot of experience in a lot of different sectors there. I had experience in Manual Testing, Azure DevOps, Pipelines, Accessibility features, Web Development, Back End C++, as well as working with Databases.Unfortunately, in my final year I did not finish my degree due to personal reasons, however I am still very passionate about programming and would love to get an entry level job to work my way up.
