Working at McDonald’s has provided me with a number of skills over the years such as learning how to handle customer inquiries and issues, prioritizing and delegating tasks, supporting training practices, as well as managing and supporting a team while under pressure. I also learned how to problem-solve and adapt to challenges that would arise in the restaurant. In addition, I’m a flexible employee as I am trained to work all types of management shifts ranging from opening, dayside, closing, and graveyard.

As a member of the Events Committee, I assist in planning, organizing, and hosting events for students at BCIT to enjoy. We fundraise for charities, host social networking events, and collaborate with other BCITMA Committees, clubs, BCIT, and the Student Association.

I used my marketing skills to assist in creating a marketing plan for the Whole Way House, assisted in bake sales to raise funds for 'Dash for Dogs' and other local charities, and promoted events being held such as a clothing drive for Big Brothers and Jeans Day for the B.C.'s Children Hospital.

Working at AllStar Tickets taught me the importance of attention to detail while auditing credit card statements, applying the correct tax tags and prices to each order, and managing pricing spreadsheets. I demonstrated my strong organization skills when filing and sorting monthly receipts and bills, and managing CD orders and inventory that we would receive. My typing and writing skills were adequately used when creating new accounts on third-party ticket websites and writing artist biographies for the company website. In addition, I had to communicate with Ticketmaster and Live Nation regarding orders and ticketing issues, as well as other co-workers on tasks that needed to be done.

Working at Aritzia taught me the importance of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) when processing, auditing, picking, and packing e-commerce orders quickly and accurately. I demonstrated that I’m capable of working independently while completing inventory counts and preparing and tagging new inventory. I would take initiative to complete other tasks such as warehouse cleaning and building e-commerce boxes during slow times.

Working at Lush allowed me to work both independently and on a team. I would often be doing each task, such as prepping, picking, packing, or shipping, independently, but understood the reliance that the team had on my participation. I demonstrated my willingness to learn by taking the initiative to try different stations when work time was slow. When picking, packing, and shipping orders, I was able to process the orders quickly and accurately to ensure we could reach our daily targets and ship-out time.

Working at Cineplex, I was a server and runner in the VIP theatre and worked successfully with a team. Verbal communication and customer awareness was important in this role as we are serving alcohol in the theatre. It was also important to manage my time wisely and prioritize tasks accordingly as we are driven by showtimes and need to have guests served before the show starts and theatres cleaned before the next show begins.

Working at River Rock Casino & Resort, I was able to manage a cafe and room service independently without supervision. Due to working alone, I learned to adapt to the job quickly and work under pressure when it would get busy. I demonstrated multi-tasking skills by having to take customer’s orders accurately and in a timely matter, preparing and serving their food, as well as maintaining cleanliness of the work area and restaurant. In addition, I would perform opening and closing procedures, organize the stock room, and complete cash procedures.
