I currently work at United Nations University - Institute for Environment and Human Security as one of the lead authors of the Interconnected Disaster Risks report. This research involves analyzing the ways in which many disasters around the world are interconnected through systemic patterns of risk and shared root causes of both collective and individual behaviour. I am passionate about science communication and making scientific knowledge accessible to the average person, and I hope to make systems thinking a more prevalent mindset in the general public. With a Master of Science in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, I am principally interested in how humans can better use our language, infrastructure, and worldviews to interact in synergy with our planet. Above all else, I strongly believe in the necessity to be good stewards of our shared planet, especially using the “think global, act local” approach to life - as all of our actions and decisions can have wide-reaching impacts, we just need to choose what kind of impact we want to have. I am especially interested in the topics of environmental justice, non-economic loss and damage, the circular economy and the rights of nature. I am always excited to find new opportunities and connections in these fields, to grow our collective knowledge and enthusiasm to help make this world a little better for everyone.
