Caitlyn Kingery is a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in the Midwest. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a major in fine art photography in 2021, where she received the Kodak Professional Photography Endowed scholarship. She started her journey as a photojournalist for the Augusta Press and currently works for Northwest Indiana Life as a New Media Journalist. Upon graduation, Caitlyn's work was part of the "Early Exposure Series" group show at Perspective Gallery in Chicago (2021). Her work has also been exhibited at the Augusta's Art Council Art Auction (2023), and she was a finalist in the Augusta Photo Festival. At 11 years old, she began photographing while traveling with her family, documenting the journey from the Deep South, through the mountains of Appalachia, up to Northwest Indiana. Her work explores the interconnectedness between the dark ethereal landscapes we inhabit and the human psyche, revealing how one reflects the other. Themes of nostalgia and the American South are recurrent in her work. Currently, Caitlyn is working on a personal project surrounding the disappearance of her mother in 2014. She is available for assignments and commissions.
